Here we are stretching our brains working out subtraction sums and beginning to record this with symbols.
Children were very excited to find a caterpillar in the garden. We told the story of the Hungry Caterpillar at our assembly so children in Poppies understood the life cycle change their caterpillar would go through.
Here you can see our Easter bonnets before the wind blew them away.
Local Walk March 2019
Thanks to help from our parents, Poppies class was able to take a closer look at the local community. We saw a church, some shops, the community police office and KS2 children working in the local community to clear up litter. We found safe places to cross the road, holding hands and remembering STOP, LOOK and LISTEN.
World Book Day March 2019
In Poppies Class we had fun dressing up as some of our favourite story characters. The Poppies team took inspiration from the story of the Gingerbread Man. We had Robin Hood, The Little Old Man, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz as well as Princess and Superheroes. We made Gingerbread Men and cooked them in the oven….fortunately they didn’t jump out of the oven and we got to eat them at home.
Getting Ready for Christmas December 2018
Time to get ready for Christmas! Some festive cooking in Poppies class.
Planting Bulbs December 2018
We are thinking ahead in Reception and have been planting bulbs ready for Spring. The children loved digging the soil.
Making Bread December 2018
In Poppies we were learning about different kinds of healthy foods and how important it is to have a balanced diet. We pretended to make bread and cook it in the oven…..then we made real bread in school.
In Poppies class we have been learning about ourselves and what we can achieve.
In Reception we have been exploring and using our outdoor area to build, dance and join in with the ‘story den’.
A big hello from Poppies Class. Mrs Botterill, Mrs Brophy and Miss Ivy have been thrilled to see how your have children settled so well. Thank you for your parental support dressing them smartly and getting them to school every day on time.
