Hello and welcome to the new Purple class of 2018-2019!
We have all settled in really well to being in year two and have already begun to challenge ourselves across all areas of learning. We have lots of exciting things to look forward to this coming year and cannot wait to share all of our experiences with you.
In purple class this half term, we have been learning about The Great Fire of London. The children have learnt about different events and different people of importance around this. Today in particular, the class thought about 'empathy'. We discussed what it means and when we have felt it. The children then acted out a scene from The Great Fire of London focusing on how they would've felt at the time. They all enjoyed watching each others performances and were able to really feel empathy for the people who were there during The Great Fire of London.
This term the children visited Valence House Museum for their school trip. The theme was famous faces and dinosaurs to fit in with the class topics. They all had a fantastic time learning about famous people in history through drama and learning about dinosaurs by digging through the sand to discover fossils!
In purple class this term we have shown our culinary skills by designing and making caveman omelettes. The children chopped their own vegetables and whisked together the egg before pouring the egg into cake cases and adding their toppings. The children then conducted a taste test which proved very yummy!
World Book Day Thursday 7th March 2019
Purple class have had a fantastic world book day and everyone made such a great effort to dress up as a book character. We spent the day reading and doing activities about Peter Pan. We listened to the story and created our own story maps. Then we made our own props to act out the story. We made hooks, Peter Pan's hat and flutes. In the afternoon we wrote letters to Captain Hook. It has been a super day and we have all been inspired to read lots of books at home.
