Snow Feb 2018
We can't forget the visit we had from the Beast from the East! We went outside and enjoyed the snow... before returning to the warm! When the snow melted Purple class enjoyed dressing up as Pirates to celebrate World Book Day!
Maths
Throughout the week we enjoyed Pirate maths which included learning about symmetry. We went outside and designed Pirate flags with symmetrical patterns. We enjoyed reading the story 'A new Home for a Pirate' and then we designed our own Pirate Ships using 2D shapes, selecting shapes carefully based on their properties. Afterwards we worked in teams to build homes fit for a Pirate, using construction.
Cooking March 2018
Purple class enjoyed lots of different activities relating to our Book Week theme which was Pirates. We read a variety of fiction books about Pirates and then we had lots of fun carrying out different activities. After reading the book 'Pizza for Pirates' we made pizzas using muffins, fresh vegetables, tomato sauce and cheese. They were delicious!!

SHAPES AND PATTERNS
This week, Orange class are exploring Shapes and Pattern.
We have been looking at 2D shapes, identifying them and grouping them in different ways according to colour, size and their properties.
We even went outside into the playground as a class and drew them on the ground with chalk trying to draw them accurately and describe our shapes to our friends.
In our follow up lessons we will be making pictures with shapes and use shapes to make patterns. We will be having a shape hunt and try to find shapes in and around our classrooms. We will also be looking at some 3D shapes too.
Geography November 2017
Trip around our local community
We have been taking a closer look at our local environment. We explored our addresses and the different types of homes that we all live in.
We discussed what we know about our community and the significant places and people in it. E.g. the park and our friends.
We then went on a walk around the neighbourhood to take a look around and see some of the places we have talked about.

EAT MORE FRUIT !!
Yogurt Making:
In design and technology, we made our own yogurt.
We tasted different fruits and choose which one we liked the best. We decided whether to add sugar or not (we all added sugar even though we liked the taste of the plain yogurt, I wonder why?) and decided on the colour of our yogurt by adding food colouring.
We drew up a plan and followed it to make our designer yogurt.
We then ate it all up. It was yummy!
The proof was definitely in the pudding or should I say yogurt.
